Scripture Focus: Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. – Leviticus 23:24 KJV

I also want to share this verse from the Tree of Life Version of the Bible which uses some Hebrew and it is called an “authentic Jewish translation of the Holy Scriptures.” When I looked at the website for this version it had something on there that says so much: “A new Biblical translation uniting the Grafted and the Chosen.

Here is the TLV version of this scripture:

Speak to Bnei-Yisrael, saying: In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you are to have a Shabbat rest, a memorial of blowing (shofarot), a holy convocation.

Bnei-Yisrael – the children of Israel

Shabbat – Sabbath

shofarot – plural for shofar, Feast of Trumpets

(translations from Tree of Life Version)

First, this may not look like it should be a part of my “Confessions of a Halloween Junkie” series but it seems appropriate since The Feast of Trumpets takes place in the Autumn. And I’ve realized something – that because of the Fall Feasts – could this be another reason that Autumn is so special to me? I think so!

So, this is what I keep thinking – why as Christians do we not celebrate God’s appointed Feast Days but we have no problem celebrating man-made traditions (such as Easter and Christmas – I don’t recall either of these being mentioned in the Bible – yet the Feast Days are mentioned). I’m not saying to stop celebrating Easter and Christmas but there are NO replacements for God’s appointed Feasts. The Feast Days or High Holy Days reflect Yeshua (Jesus Christ). I also realize that by not embracing the Jewish-ness of our Christian faith we are truly missing out on so much when we read our Bibles – the english versions don’t reflect the deeper meanings. It seems because we, the Christians, aren’t Jewish, then anything Jewish doesn’t pertain to us. We must realize that we may be Gentile believers and not born physically Jewish but we have been grafted in so we are spiritually Jewish.

“But if some of the branches were broken off and you—being a wild olive—were grafted in among them and became a partaker of the root of the olive tree with its richness, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, it is not you who support the root but the root supports you.” – Romans 11:17-18

(We, the Gentile Believers are the “wild olive”)

“And if you belong to Messiah, then you are Abraham’s seed—heirs according to the promise.” – Galatians 3:29 TLV

Want to know more about the Chosen (Israel) and the Grafted (all other nations) – I found this article from Got Questions?org – “What does it mean that the church has been grafted in Israel’s place?”

Sidenote: First off the meaning of the word Christian – is from the Greek meaning “Anointed One” – a follower of Christ and Gentile is a non-Jew. I like using Gentile Believer. We, Christians or Gentile believers, have not replaced the Jewish people in God’s plan. We, as Christians or Gentile believers, should be making the Jewish people jealous to know Yeshua (Jesus Christ).

Here is another article to read from Word of Messiah Ministries – The Gentile Great Commision

Sidenote: Are you wanting to dive a bit deeper into the Jewish meanings of words in the Bible? Check out ‘The Book of Mysteries’ by Jonathan Cahn. I’ve been reading it for a month and it is amazing, breathtaking, and such a blessing. I mean as I read these daily devotionals – there are many times I have cried because well…mysteries of God’s Word are being revealed in such a deep way with so much meaning that I am closer to God than ever before and learning at such a deeper level.

Back on course, The Feast of Trumpets…

What does the Feast of Trumpets signify – it will announce the closing of the age – the closing of satan’s rule upon this earth –  and then the 2nd coming of Yeshua (Jesus). The trumpets of Israel announce the coming of kings and kingdoms and so when Yeshua comes to reign on the earth the trumpet will sound and His reign on the new earth will begin! Hallelujah!

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last shofar. For the shofar will sound,
and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.” – 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 TLV

Do we truly realize that when Yeshua first came – He was the Lamb of God – the Sacrifice. When He returns, He will be the Lion of Judah – ‘Then one of the elders tells me, “Stop weeping! Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed—He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” (Revelation 5:5 TLV)

So, again, I wonder why as Gentile Believers, we are not focused on the appointed Feast Days of our God?
